Happy Holidays
We now have a Scholarship Fund voted in by the members at the October Union Meeting. The Executive Board, Teri the Office Manager and I have been hammering out all the rules and details and we will be showing it off at the Family Union Meeting December 5, 2014.
Along with the Scholarship Fund, we started a Mentoring Program where Local 85 Officers will mentor Probationary Apprentices. It will be the first of its type of program in our Local and Probationary Apprentices and the Officers will both benefit from being involved in it.
I don’t know how the election went since this has to be in before Election Day. I hope we made the changes we needed to keep the politicians off our back and out of our trade!
It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone. Our Family Union Meeting is only a couple of days away. We’ve added a couple of things to it since last year; we are starting a competition to design the best pin for the next convention. It will be decided on by the next Family Union Meeting in 2015 and rules will be given out at this year’s Family Union Meeting. We will also be honoring our NEIEP Instructors. If you made the Family Union Meeting last year you know how much fun it is and how good the food is. If have not been to a Family Union Meeting I hope you will join us this time. Great food, every child gets a gift, door prizes provided by the companies and the Local and while the union meeting is going on we will show 3 movies for the children in the Union classrooms. The union office will be open @ 3:00 pm. Come in and look around at your union facility, dinner will start @ 5:00 pm. Come early to visit with old friends, new friends and retired friends.
Please call or E-Mail the union office with how many people will be coming from your family and the ages of the kids so we can get the right gifts.

Big Buck Contest:
The Big Buck Contest for all the hunter’s out there. Let’s see if we can get more pictures in this year than we did last year. The contest wraps up on January 2, 2015. Michigan bucks only.
