Greetings from Mid-Michigan – The Great Lakes State!
Why is it when members have issues with health or questions about the pension they immediately complain about the Union? No one complains about making too much money, having the best health insurance, a pension, annuity, 401K and support when the company cheats them. Everything the Union does is to benefit the members! If you have problems with health insurance, call your Local or contact the benefit office yourself, same goes for the pension. There are trustees involved in the pension and health insurance; that means the company has input on how everything will work. In case you don’t understand it, the company is jealous of the benefits you receive. Use energy to stop contract violations, pre fab and cheating us on expenses. It’s easy to complain, its work to look at the good and where you can help to make your Union strong. Stand up, be heard, involved, supportive and Union strong.
No one has complained about the dues increase at this Local, they only needed to know that the increase protects their future and the wellbeing of their family. “Market share” should be the buzz word for the next ten years or so. The more market share we have the better the benefits, wages and job security we have. We demand the highest wages and benefits because we control the market share in elevator construction, modernizing, repair and maintenance. If we lose the market share to the non-union, we will lose all the things we take for granted.
